BIG DISAPPOINTMENT AFTER BIG EXPECTATION

After all that time waiting to be reconnected to this highly addictive game. The opening was delayed by two and a quarter hours. The joy of being connected quickly turned to anguish at having been kicked out or disconnected 7 times. However after the first hour and over 400 beta testers filling up a 1000 space gameworld the extreme lag settled down. This did not help the fact that most of the best players or the most well known one’s were already signed up by managers who somehow could swim in quicksand. How did they get on so quickly when others such as myself suffered so horifically?

I spent most of the proceeding day drawing up a hit list which proved sucha big waste of time. It seems the way to success in getting players were to pick up lesser known guys with great stats and a great deal cheaper. I had promised myself that I would seek new talent but had a list of ex players i would call on if in trouble. “Help!”…I was in trouble. it took me 30 minutes to sign just two players due to the lag. All of my previous team were snapped up except for Monaco centre back Massamba Sambou and Gent’s midfielder/left back Massimo Moia.

Most of my squad have very decent stats but could they play? The Auto select button assembled my best eleven with my favourite formation of 4-1-4-1 which won me a trophy before. In goal it chose…

captain Ulrich Rame of Bordeaux a 38yr old pensioner.
RB…Middlesboro’s young Tony McMahon
lLB…Cievo verona’s Andrea Mantovani (trialist)
CBK’S…River plate experienced Mario yepes to partner Sambou
RM…german league player Karim Matmour (trialist)
LM…fsv Mainz’s Elkin Soto a player I signed way back in January under a different team
DM…Shaktar Donesk’s Gai
AM…Vitese Arnhem’s Santi Kolk and Shaktars Eugene Seleznyov hopefully our creators
FC…Karlsruhe’s Sebastian Freis hopefully to convert the chances.

My first training session went well as I put the lads thru there paces and was pleased to have chosen scouting as my focused talent as cash will be short for a while. just about to go and get some needed sleep as some mail arrive on my desk…

You have finished training Level 1 of the Tactics skill.

Learning this skill has enabled the Team Tactics sliders with 5 notches.

It is recommended that you start training another skill as soon as possible to make maximum use of time.”

GAMES COMING THICK AND FAST!!

Well after much midnight oil burning and nagging from the wife, my team awoke on a sunny Wednesday morning, to stop posing on the training field and to show me what they are made of. I was sick to death at watching John Terry Talk up England’s chances against Croatia on Satanta TV. Probably lose 2-1 in this World Cup qualifier and the nation will scream “sack Capello!”.

We entered into a stupidly named League competition that will see enough games for me to strip away the deadwood for when the Official Leagues start. First up was 29 yr old Darren Pritchard from Brighton who’s team Bashers FC had yet to record a win in four games played. Although we went a goal behind i was confident of a win and pressed on to see come back to win 2-1. What a start played one won one! Yepes and Montavani starred at the back whilst MOM Freis and Seleznyov bedazzled upfront.

Bashers quickly challanged me again so I thought to mix it a bit and see what other players were like. It didn’t go down well as we were seen off 2-0 after chasing the game and getting hit on the break.

Next up was 43 yr old John kennedy from Fleetwood and his Fleetwood Town FC. Decided to tinker some more and was dispatched 2-0 in their stadium. Worst culprit was entre back Mawene who rated at 5.4 or thereabouts.

I have now come to a major descion and have dispensed with my “oh too clever” 4-1-4-1 and go with a very basic unimaginative 4-4-2. Lets see if the team feels better with this? I also have decided to play Seleznyov as a partner to Preis even though he’s played brilliantly as an emergency attacking midfielder. This boy has some real talent but time will tell if he is the real deal. Pickenhagen would be given preference over the more vastly experienced rival to see how he handles it. Trialist Salifou would be given his chance also in centre midfield.

BOOM! my team kicks into life and where do I start to praise? Salifou seemed to transform the midfield with a “Fabregas” type display, even scoring in a 4-1 win. In truth it could of been 6-4 as it was so open like a “prostitute on seeing the color green”. Comiserations to 25 yr old Aaron Green whose Blue Nose Bears FC where gunned down. Selez’ bagged a brace with sub Robertson tapping home the 4th. What a turn up as BNBFC had won 5 of their last 7 games and there I was wetting my pants before the game for no reason.

36 yr old Scott Fletcher from Brisbane Australia put his team Killerbees FC into the arena to test my team further. His team had recently beaten BNBFC 1-0 so he knew this would be a tough match up. It proved the David bellion versus Sebastian Fries showdown with bellion scoring twice but fries scoring a match winning hat trick. Selez’ had a stinker alongside him but Fries proved the difference ina 2-3 away win. This win pushed us up to 5th in the early table. It is clear though that my defence will have to be added to before the serious leagues start.

Redemption was at hand 15 mins later as Perico dribbled his way into the box to finish in style and then repeat the feat midway in the second half. With victory in their grasp United turned the game on its head splitting the Hitech central defence to take the game into extra time. How do you compete with the big spender

Hitech Subbutteo have dropped nine places to 122nd in the World Rankings after the five thousand one hundred and twenty-five matches that were played today. The gameworld has now gone into overdrive with bids flying in for all the top players. Christiano Ronaldo was the latest capture, as he was won by a team who only had one other player in it’s squad. An incredible wage of 122,000 was used to secure him which could put off a few people from FML altogether. Hitech were in no financial position to even think about competing in these major transfers having built there squad from the games begining. Some teams who are bidding have built up a lot of wealth by keeping low waged and small numbered squads.

Manager Flick Foster was asked how he was most likely to compete on an equal footing against these big star spending teams, to which he replied.

“we will never be able to compete in signing big name players and would welcome a completely fake database to stop these ridiculous bidding wars. Players are going for a minimum of 70,000 with superstars from 90,000 to 130,000. The only hope is to have sound tactics for your group of players and hope as we do to believe we have superstars of tomorrow here already. Players like Fenin up front Flores Di Matteo and Perico are four players in which could save us millions in the future. That is our base to build upon and we need good scouting in order to develop further. The only other alternative would be come release day, would be to only sign youth players that would double up as a senior team. This looks the more likely way to go now”

Flick eyes silverware ahead

Flick Foster has yet to assemble a championship winning side in all the months of beta tesing for SI. His only silverware to date was winning the WCA Legends Cup with players like Sahar, Gaven, Tops, Moia, Apodi etc. However since being dumped out of the WCA Cup in the first round his new team stands on the brink of winning not one but two League titles. Hitech have been unbeaten in their last 22 games which have seen them run clear of their nearest rivals in the official WCA Qualification 2 league and the unofficial Manufactured Midweek League, a tournament he set up.

Even though star player Palermo is way past his best and retiring on saturday he has recently hit his 37th goal of the season. With Young Martin Fenin as his long term successor Martins goal ratio is even better than Palermo’s at this stage . In Perico and Lucas Hitech have brilliant midfielders who scores at the rate of most forwards. On the wings they have Grishen and Flores who’s tricks and pace cause untold problems for the opposition. Whilst playing the midfield terminator is the ever improving Javanovic. The back four are amongst the best in the league at keeping goals against to the minimum and all is looking well.

HITECH ARE CHAMPIONS AT LAST!!!!!!!!!!
